Positive Self Talk and Affirmation are Essential if you Work From Home

If you are going to work from home, and have decided to do so for the long haul, you will need to keep your positivity high. One thing which I highly recommend is positive self-talk.

Positive self-talk means intentionally giving yourself positive reinforcement, motivation, and recognition. Basically, you are your own rock. Pat yourself on the back when you do well. Remind yourself of your abilities, your accomplishments, your strengths and your skills. Keep a task list, check off accomplishments, and review your progress periodically.

All of us who work from home should make self-talk work positively for us. Anything that you habitually say to yourself has a very profound impact on your self-image, your self-esteem, your performance, as well as your eventual success. Remember that your subconscious triggers physiological responses to match the pictures and thoughts which you possess of yourself. In turn, these pictures and thoughts are manifested into reality. Make this work for you by keeping your self-talk positive.

Get the negative self-talk out of your vocabulary. Sure you can nag yourself, but all that does is minimize your abilities, your accomplishments, your strengths and your skills. This is the last thing that you need while working from home. Furthermore, negative self talk can be damaging because your subconscious has a tendency to believe what you say to yourself when you repeat that negative talk in your mind over and over. How is your subconscious to know otherwise? Therefore, if you catch yourself using negative self-talk, stop and rephrase. Eliminate the negative words. Rather, focus on the best course of action which you can take, and do it.

Make positive communications to yourself a daily habit. Focus on the positive in goal statements, self-talk, and all communications. Compare the following phrases, and notice how the positive words convey confidence, commitment, and enthusiasm.

For example, replace "I will try to", with "I will" in your vocabulary. Rather than saying, "I should do", which is just an excuse not to do something, replace it with "I will do". Get in the habit of saying  "I must" instead of "I want to".

Pinpoint your focus by using affirmation statements. Affirmative statements are positive self-statements or reminders to help you achieve goals. These are positive messages with a bullet point. Think of them as mental bumper stickers with the purpose of motivating your subconscious mind to work for you. This is a great exercise for the work from home entrepreneur.

Here are a few guidelines which will help you to use the powerful tool of self-affirmative as vital mental reminder.

1.  Make the statements which directly relate to yourself.  Speak of yourself in the third person if necessary.

2) Keep your affirmations short, and easy to remember. After all, what good are affirmations if you cannot remember them

3) Use positive phrases in your affirmations. The mind accepts as truth the words that you give it. Eliminate any negative words. Rather than saying, "I will not be worried when on the opening day of my home business, say "I will be self-confident and relaxed because I now work from home."

4) Use positive emotions. A positive emotion is a phrase which triggers a positive feeling and strengthens your affirmation. For instance, tell yourself that you are doing something huge and it is very exciting to be in the position that you are in.

5) Phrase your affirmations as actual fact.  Phrase a goal as though it is happening, even if you have not yet achieved it. Your subconscious strongly believes in mental messages and works to make them a reality. This is a proven fact which I learned in Intro Psychology.

6) Say and repeat your affirmation a minimum of six times a day. Repetition is life, remember that. Repetition enhances self-confidence, acts as a reminder, and stimulates your subconscious to help you achieve your goals in life.

The impact of positive self-talk and affirmative statements cannot be overstated. They can help you achieve the vital goals which you have identified in your life. Just keep in mind that without goals, you can work as hard as you want, but you are like a ship without a rudder.

Whether you work from home or not, the powerful tools of positive self-talk and positive affirmations can do nothing but to bring you closer to your goals.
