Work From Home: A Sizzling Industry

Whether your company has gone out of business, downsized, outsourced, or you are just sick and tired of your co-workers, it may be time to join the thousands of people who now work from home. This industry is sizzling hot right now, with a lot of diverse opportunities to earn money from the confines of your four walls.

ROWE 

ROWE, otherwise known as the Results-Only Work Environment, has enabled former office dwellers to perform their duties from home.  As the name indicates, employee performance is measured by production, not the number of hours they are physically present in their cubical or office. 

Major corporations such as Best Buy and Thomson Reuters have taken a step in the ROWE direction, giving their employees more freedom and control over their work day. Emperical data suggests that not only are ROWE employees more satisfied with their jobs, they are more productive.

HOME BUSINESS

Chances are that you have seen commercials, or actually know of someone who operates a home business. At a minimum, you probably know someone who routinely sells items on eBay. Many merchants who would have been working in a traditional brick-and-mortar setting twenty years ago, are working from home on the internet today. The internet has allowed virtually anyone with a keypad, internet service, and an idea, to market their product or service on the web.

AFFILIATE PROGRAMS

One of the quickest ways to start working from home immediately, is through affiliate programs. Affiliate programs allow you to make money by promoting other people's products or services. You the affiliate are paid a commission on sales which you refer to the merchant's website. Most internet merchants use affiliate marketing to promote their sites.

However, a word of caution. Make sure that the affiliate programs which you are considering has no start up fee. There is absolutely no reason why you should pay out of pocket for the opportunity to make money. Further, the best affiliate programs are the one's which give you the most commission. As a general rule, I recommend that you accept nothing less than 25%. After all, you are working hard to promote someone else's product, therefore, the commission should be significant.

CONCLUSION

In the next decade, I am going to go out on a limb and predict that the number of people who will work from home will triple from today. With major companies embracing ROWE, a wave of entrepreneurship, and the current trends in general, this is not a bold prediction. It is more an inevitability as a result of an increasing trend.
