You Want To Work From Home But The Bills Keep Coming

You wanted to stay home, watch your kids go to school each day, and then eventually, send them off to college. Sound familiar?

Of course, when you have the financial resources to stay at home, the decision is easy. Unfortunately, most people do not have this luxury. As a result, most families parented by baby boomers, were families in which both mom and dad punched the clock forty (40) hours per week.

Fast forward to the current day. With the discovery of a recent trend, could things be changing? For instance, since the peak employment years for wed mothers with children under the age of six (6), employment figures for this demographic have dropped by an astounding 7%-10% for some income groups. Just as intreging, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the overall participation in the workforce for all women, across all income groups, dropped by 1.5% between 2000-2004.

These figures indicate a significant trend since over the previous four (4) decade interval, women's participation in the work force consistently climbed annually, from 40.8% in 1970, to 57.5% in 2000.

This shift has been a direct result of more mothers making the decision to work from home.  These are women to want to watch their kids go to school each day, but also need to have a bill paying career.   Such careers generally follow two paths. One is creating an opportunity out of a skill set, and using that skill set to create and manage a home business. The other is seeking an existing company who needs a skill set, and offering those skills to said company through a home computer and the internet.

Food For Thought

  • There are currently over twenty-five (25) million home business owners in America today.  Furthermore, this number is growing constantly as more and more people fulfill their desire to work from home.
  • Where is a good place to start?  You are actually in a good place right now.  Resource sites, such as this one, are a great source of information.
  • Back in 2002, the average annual income from a home based office was $45K.
  • The home business sector is the fastest growing segment of the economy.
  • Two-thirds of all businesses started in the USA today are started in the owner's home.
Did You Know?
Out of one-hundred (100) people who joined the public work force at the age of twenty-five (25) the following is true by age sixty-five (65):
  • Twenty-nine (29) have already died.
  • Three (3) still have to work survive.
  • Sixty-three (63) rely on Social Security, family, friends, and/or charity.
  • Only four (4) have money to live comfortably in retirement.
  • Only one (1) is healthy.
It is evident that the ability to work from home has its advantages.  Does it have risks?  Of course it does, as does every work situation.  All that I can tell you when you are looking at any home business, especially those which require an initial investment, do your due diligence.  However, do not wait to get all of the "facts" before you take action.  You will NEVER have all of the facts.  Take action with a sense of urgency.  Give yourself deadlines, and meet those deadlines as though your success depended on it, because in reality, it does.

Zero Cost. Zero Obligation.
