Most who work from home will know that it can be a lot harder than having to wake up every morning and go to the work place. The reason for this is you replace one set of known issues with another set of unknown ones. The usual reasons why most want to escape the corporate rat race, like the daily commute, unreasonable hours; lazy over challenging boss who gets you to do half their work for them then take all the credit, unsociable work colleagues, the list goes on, and all for a poultry sum. This is all replaced with a whole new set of unforeseen problems. Even if you've go about it in the right way by gradually building up your home business first, It will all start on day one, you walk into your office, take a look around and then literally start talking to yourself, you will say, O.K. this is it mate, it's down to you. Something will have changed inside, and so it should.

Having been an employee for someone else most my working life, and even though I knew 100% it was time to go it alone, I still had that small element of doubt, this is obviously a natural emotion after working with a safety net for so long.

Also there can be many regular domestic potential distractions, also not having a boss or senior to report to. Does the last point make sense? Sure it does. When you work within an office, there is a professional environment created. There are responsibilities assigned to you, deadlines given and targets to achieve.

If you look at all good businesses they all have procedures in place, they are there because systems work. Take a simple system like a clock machine, why is it there? To ensure everyone gets there and leaves on time, this basic system keeps everyone's time keeping in line, this enables management to plan future output targets etc.

Adopt the same principle when working from home, pick the amount of hours you need to work every day, and then multiply it by the days in that month. Make sure to fill a time sheet in to record your hours, with you being the boss you can be very versatile how you arrange your hours, however if you take a day off then those hours must be made up by month end.

Get dressed for work as you did before; Put a daily reminder on your phone or personal computer reminding you of one's mission statement to help keep you focused.
