What Do We Know About Paid Surveys?

If my thoughts were visible every time I have seen an advertisement for paid surveys, I would be engulfed by red flags. Not to say that this is a legitimate thought, however, I just think that if it were possible to earn $150-$200 per hour just taking surveys, why did I go to law school?
There is no denying that the internet has as a matter of fact increased the number of people who can now effectively work from home. While I have been paid $100-$200 for taking part in a focus group. The typical paid survey only pays in the range of $5-$40, taking around five (5) to ten (10) minutes to complete each survey.
Now, I know what you are doing. Right now you are doing the math in your head and determining that it is not impossible to make $150 in one hour by completing a paid survey. One thing to keep in mind, is that while some paid surveys will compensate you in the form of a commercial instrument, such as a check, many other will compensate you with a sample of their product, or gift certificates to purchase their products. Unless you are a huge fan of the company's products, such form of compensation may leave you feeling a little empty inside.
One thing that I like about paid surveys, is that similar to SOSComplete!, they are free to join. Paid surveys are an inexpensive way to make a couple of extra thousand dollars per year. The logic is to sign up for a large volume of paid surveys, and exchange your free time for money, gift cards, or products.
Nonetheless, you should keep in mind that a legitimate paid survey company will never charge you a penny. Therefore, if you see such a request, you should run the other way. Do not be tempted by promises of big money, because as I outlined above, big money does not exist in paid surveys.
