Work From Home - Ten Tips for Newcomers
For the new work from home entrepreneur, here are ten unwritten rules that may well prevent you from 'skidding into the ditch'. Make a point of reading through them regularly to remain focused on the road ahead!
1. First and foremost, lets look at the advantages of creating and building an online income. Our place of work is open for business 24/7 so we can work when we want and for as long as we want. Many of our regular duties can be run on auto-pilot leaving us with more time for family, social and leisure activities. This situation offers a less stressful working environment, and to a certain extent we are in control of your own rewards. However, it is important to remember that there are rarely any true 'Get-Rich-Quick' schemes on the Internet. Look upon it in much the same way as you would if you were creating an offline business, which, in order to be successful, requires commitment and a positive attitude right from the offset, with scant reward in the early days.
2. The goal for most people is have a full-time online business that will replace, and hopefully exceed, your current job. To be able to create a regular income will take a little time, so be patient and stay with your boss until you feel secure about your home-based business. Step into the internet marketing arena and put your toe in a little bit of everything. Learn to build a website (very easy), open your mind to HTML, learn how to use scripts and create a few images of your own. These are are little skills that will make you more marketable and save you money. If you can remain focused enough to take on some of these skills that are needed for your success, you will be a cut above the rest of those who give up much too soon.
3. NEVER...get involved in 'get paid to read email' sites--they are scams and you won't earn a penny. They won't even answer your emails of complaint! MLM too, or in fact any website telling you that your money will be doubled or tripled in a matter of days, or you will become rich over night, are scams. Avoid them!! It's not difficult to find bona fide marketers on the Internet. Look for offline contact points. An address or telephone number is a good sign they are genuine. Another good test is to send them an email before you sign up to see how efficiently they reply. Avoid the 'Get-Rich-Quick' schemes--they don't work!
4. If I had a "guarded secret" of how to make thousands of dollars per day on the internet, would I tell you? The answer is a resounding "no". The internet does not have secrets, it does have information though that you either know about or don't know about. So when you see the advertisements about "earning $75K monthly on auto-pilot", please don't click any further. You and I both know when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Stay safe on the internet and steer clear of the ridiculous hype.
Work From Home - Three Steps to Self-Branding
Are you using online tactics to attract potential customers for your work from home business? If so, are you successfully establishing yourself as the expert in your particular field? If not, people may not view you as being worthy of their attention.
Let's address this area successfully, so our prospects decide to continue on to our websites and learn more about our work from home business. You could use a blog specific to your industry, or Twitter, MySpace, YouTube and other social sites. Obviously the bigger our presence, the more exposure we will get, but working all of these sites to market can be so time consuming. So, we might want to focus on a few important ones.
If you have not already, go check some of them out and sign up, create a profile and add your bio and a pic or two. You will also want to include links to your web site. This way people know where to go if they want to learn more about you and your business.
The 1st Site You Must Have A Presence
The first thing you will want to do is create your own blog. This will be your home base in your marketing efforts. I think that a WordPress.org blog is the way to go.
Start by registering your name or the name of your company or whatever you are going to promote. You can do that at Go Daddy. Make the name you pick simple so you won't confuse people and keep in mind that this will reinforce your brand.
Once you get your site up, it is worth it to design or pay someone to put together a unique logo or graphic for your blog. I have my photo and a logo on mine. My company can help you create this, if you need help. Go check out mine.
You can use your blog to offer valuable information and build credibility with your customers. You can also use your blog to build a list of customers or prospects and stay connected.
People can enter their contact information right at your blog, if you install an Opt-In Box. This allows you to build a list in your promotional efforts. You should make it worthwhile for them to give you their contact info, by offering a free report or other reason for them to want you to stay in touch.
Work From Home - What is Niche Marketing?
If you are thinking of that you would really like to work from home or are already doing so, one of your primary objectives is probably to make money. You know that your competition is fierce. You may try every possible avenue of exposure, and come up with a lot of visitors but not a great deal of earnings. You've got the traffic, you have got the item, so what gives?
There is one question which embodies the secret of your work from home success. That query is, "What is niche marketing?"
One of the most typical mistakes made by marketers is to believe that everybody wants his product. So numerous start out hoping to cash in on the millions of prospects, or end up waiting for months on finish as their dreams fail to materialize.
Generally, there is one essential factor they failed to think about. This type of marketer usually is attempting to be a man for all seasons, everything to everyone. Sure, you are enthusiastic about your product, but are you reaching your audience? Is there an audience for you to reach? What's market advertising? Again, the question.
Let's say you sell herbal products. You have got a lot of content, excellent items and a stunning web site. The problem is, you're not producing a living! So what is wrong with this picture? You will find millions of herbal product sites available - do a Google search on "herbal products" and see.
You'll need to target a very specific require inside that audience - a require that is largely unmet, that has not been addressed - a minimum of by only several - that fulfills a specialized aspect of your company.
So now we have part from the answer to "what is niche marketing?". Market advertising is a strategy that seeks to have little, or ideally, no direct competition. That could be a tall order, but that's essentially your objective.
Work From Home - Did You Outgrow Your Home Office?
Business owners who work from home know how critical space can be. In the beginning, there may be plenty of room in a home office. This may work for awhile, but as inventory grows and your sales are booming, you will need additional space for storage and for work. What was enough space a few years ago may not be cramped, disorganized, and in extreme cases, a disaster area. If this sounds familiar, you may be facing the time for expansion. There are three solutions for making sure the space you have is large enough. You can make your current space larger, you can create an entirely new space for doing business, or you can store materials off-site while still working from your usual home office. If you choose off-site storage, you will want to search for affordable, off-site solutions like a Houston Contract Warehouse or Houston Fulfillment.
This allows you to get a lot of your stock out of the area and store things that you do not need at your fingertips. The merchandise may need to be stored until it sells, advertising and marketing equipment, office equipment that is not used on the regular basis or just about anything else. This is a great solution for opening up space in your current office area.
Another option is expanding your current workspace. Those working from home can expand their space by increasing the square footage of their home. You may be able to add onto the existing structure to increase whatever space you are currently using, or you may add footage to an area like a basement or garage. Also consider finishing an unfinished basement space if you have it or increasing the size of your garage and making it a livable space. This will give you out of the way workspace that is comfortable and professional once it is complete.
Your final solution is to move to a completely different space. Even if your workspace is convenient at home, if your business has such growing success, you may have no choice but to move elsewhere to continue the growth. It may not be as convenient, but you need to consider what is more important to you: the convenience of working from home or the growth of your company.
You can consider the idea of having an employee manage the off-site facility, or you can create a schedule that gives you time to work from home, and at the new site. Regardless of the right solution for you, there are options for allowing your business to grow while still remaining true to your initial plan to be in control of your business.

Work From Home - Changing Your Outlook
The majority of people tend to struggle getting their work from home business of the ground and of course there are many reasons for this including lack of training, wrong choice of opportunity, lack of time and so on.
What I want to discuss here however is another reason that I feel this is very important and that is our attitude. There are four particular attitudes we may have most likely formed through life experiences that when recognized and consciously challenged, may lead to us having a far greater ability to reach our goals. These attitudes are as follows.
1. Pain of Change. Being able to change your direction is an incredible asset because we know that change will invariably cause us some pain at least initially. However if we allow the pain of change to prevent us from committing to an action then we will find we remain in the same place doing the same thing over and over again. It is also smart to initiate change yourself rather than be forced into it by circumstance. Any change we start ourselves will also be shorter lived than if we are forced to do something.
2. Self Doubt. Doubting what you attempt and having a lack of conviction in the successful outcome will invariably lead us to fail. If we can conquer self-doubt then we will find that no matter what we try we are much more likely to be successful because it will greatly influence how we approach whatever we attempt.
3. Fear of Failure. Most people fear the thought of failing in whatever they attempt and for many reasons. What is important is that we overcome that fear and in doing so control it so that next time we attempt something it becomes easier. If however we allow that fear to prevent us from trying something then we will find that it is more difficult next time and we will end up never attempting anything.
4. Loss of Security. Fearing to give up our "job" or whatever may be affording us short term security will always dictate our ability to succeed if for no other reason than preventing you the time you need to attempt something different that will afford you greater security long term.
The thing about all these attitudes is that we can change them, as a matter of fact successful people are the ones who have changed them.
